My best description would be sort of a blend of early industrial experimentation and modern IDM. You can listen to some songs and find the download link at www.myspace.com/teenanalterrorist. The album's being distributed on a donation basis, so if you're completely destitute, don't worry. But, since we believe that people making a living doing what they love is a good thing, donations are encouraged. So if you find some form of enjoyment from the music, please give what you can.

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.

Badschematic is a non-profit and commerce-free netlabel, distributing unusual and challenging audio works in MP3 format. All of our releases are free to download and share under a Creative Commons License. By operating without monetary concerns, it is Badschematic's goal to bring to your ears unique and unusual sounds that push and break through the boundaries of standard musical convention.

Badschematic is now officially up and running! Our first run of releases is as follows :

Swamps Up Nostrils - "Interdifference" = Originally recorded in 2005, this album finally sees the light of day with its release on Badschematic. Norwegian based artist Swamps Up Nostrils put together his unique blend of sounds, noises, and broken beats to construct eight original tracks for the long overdue release of Interdifference.

V/A - "Schematic Sounds Volume One" = The first installment in Badschematic's compilation series brings you nineteen different tracks by musicians and sound artists from across the globe. Featured on this compilation is a wide variety of strange and unusual sounds, from ambient drones to harsh noise-scapes.

Torstein Wjiik - "Moth Powder" = Moth Powder is a three track EP from Norwegian artist Torstein Wjiik, freely combining harsh bursts of noise, low rumbling drones, and strangely beautiful sound fragments. Moth Powder is also available on CDr from Ambolthue Records, a small indie label releasing experimental music in all variations.

Ligand - "Exogenous Conveyances" = Ligand's sound could be described, upon an initial listen, as "ambient", but that only tells part of the story. A producer of unconventional music that wanders freely between the soothing and the surreal, Ligand works within the context of ambient music but does not worry overmuch about staying within its confines.
Prepare for Liftoff!
http://www.worldspaceparty.org

Get ready for something entirely different.

On April 13th the Bay Area joins the world in celebration of space exploration in a unique convergence of artists, scientists, astronauts, performers and musicians.

Yuri's Night is a commemoration of humankind’s first venture into space, by Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. This gathering bridges national, cultural, generational and social barriers to ignite excitement about what is new on the horizon in space exploration and to remind us of the magnificent feats humanity is capable of.

Yuri's Night Bay Area will be held at Moffett Field in the NASA Ames Research Center's massive SOFIA hangar, home to the world's largest aerial observatory. Our host for the evening is pioneering space traveler Anousheh Anasari, the first privately funded female to reach orbit. She is joined by Dr. Chris McKay, world renowned expert in astrobiology and terraformation with the Space Science Division of NASA Ames Research Center, as they welcome you to a dazzling array of interactive art installations and science demos, interwoven with musical and acrobatic performances by some of the world's finest entertainers.

Cutting-edge interactive technology and live demos will include:

* Neuro feedback games and visualizations including Telekinetic Asteroids and Mind Ripples
* Explorations of the world through NASA World Wind and Gigapan, the high-resolution panorama project
* Portals into Second Life and Burning Man Earth, Google's Black Rock City browser
* A roofless stargazing lounge, with an exceptional telescope provided by NASA
* Squidlabs' Instructables and ground-breaking kite technology

Science demonstrations and innovations from the worlds of robotics, engineering, biology and astronomy, will also be on display:

* A talk and interactive demos from a senior SETI scientist on efforts to detect earthquakes from space
* Explorations of Techgnosis by Erik Davis
* Interactive next-generation science data visualization software from NASA Ames' Astrophysics Division
* Robots from Justin Gray, Carnegie Mellon University, and NASA, including the next generation of rovers
* Exclusive heavenly imagery from Slooh
* Displays of microbial fossils, live microbial mats, and magnetic and fluorescent bacteria
* ASME's human-powered vehicles

Engage with space-inspired and technology-infused art installations, including:

* StarZipper, the 200 foot high installation powered by LEDs and Helium created by internationally renowned artist Michael Light and collaborator Dave Rattray
* Peter Foucault's self-propelled motion sensor Drawing Robots
* Spot Draves' collaborative evolutionary high-definition visual algorithm generator, Electric Sheep
* Dynamically inflating sculptures by AKAirways
* HypKnowTron and ChakraTron, the interactive light sculptures by Gaspo

* Projects from the Zero Gravity Arts Consortium, Lowry Burgess's monumental project The Seed of the Infinite Absolute, Lorelei Lisowsky, and Frank Pietronigro's 'Drift Painting' in microgravity
* Meet Japan's space artist Ayako Ono and watch Jean Luc Soret's Space Art videos, direct from Paris's International @rt Outsiders Festival.
* The Documentary Dome, featuring our planet's greatest space documentaries

Witness awe-inspiring space-themed performances by an armada of acrobats and dancers, featuring:
MOZAIC - Nexus
DR. TOAST - False Profit

Music environs will be complimented by a team of visual artists -- including KOSHO, CELESTINESTAR, RECURSIVEVIDEOLAB and VIBERATION -- spinning light into space throughout the night.

Meanwhile, outside on the tarmac, the SPACE COWBOYS will have their own dynamic lineup of djs aboard their interstellar party transporter, the UNIMOG. Also on the tarmac will be Playaflies and Rabbit in the Moon's outside VJ set PLUS large scale sculpture and multimedia installations from the bay area's finest and beyond.

This year’s theme is the greenification of space. The event is bio-diesel powered, a variety of organic food and drink will be available, waste products will be composted and recycled, and one tree will be planted for every ticket sold in an effort to offset the event's carbon emissions.

I produce music of many different genres under my own netlabel www.jon7.net
I've been creating music electronically for about 10 years, and have onyl really started to use the internet to promote it in the last 5 or so. I'm also a graphic artist and I design the artwork for my netlabel releases, in full jewel case format. All my music is currently available for free download at Archive.org, but in the future I'm loooking for better ways to release physical media or do MP3 retailing. But really at this stage it's all about the love of doing it and the free expression. and the free server space for my netlabel.

Please check out some of my music and art! you can through either:
I am happy to announce that my new solo album has been released by the US label "New Albion"!

Here is the link about the album at New Albion's web site : www.newalbion.com/NA131

This is an album of "solo acoustic guitar and live electronics". The whole album was recorded in real-time without any overdubs. I played the acoustic guitar and controlled the live electronics at the same time!

During the making of this album, Ovation Custom Legend 1869 acoustic guitar, TC Electronic Fireworx multi effects processor, Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller and the software Audiomulch were used.

If you are interested in acoustic guitar, minimal ambient - electroacoustic music and the use of live electronics, feel free to check out the album!
this coming Saturday night with a creative touring group from Porltand, yourdrugsmymoney.

Because I've been so into Power Noize, Noise and Industrial/EBMish stuff lately, my performance will reflect a lot of that
sensibility.

I'm so excited, I just purchase a Feedback eliminator which will allow me to use very heavy distortion with vocals and found objects
without having all the uncontrollable feedback problems that occur with live microphones.

I'll also be projecting my new lo fi, toy digital video animations that I"ve been making at the show.
Come on out to an unusual creative show in the South Bay if you don't have anything to do.
Hydrapond will be performing a live set in Second Life on Wednesday, November 28th.
Time: 10:00pm Pacific Standard Time
Where: Second Life/Vieux Hall.

This is my first virtual live set. I am excited and hope it goes off without a hitch. (duh)

For those unfamiliar, Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. It is an interesting community which I have not had the time to get actively involved in. Regardless, I am excited to be able to have the opportunity to perform live for you all (without having to transport 2 keyboards, a mixer and a desktop computer). :)

If you wish to view the show but are unfamiliar with Second Life, their website http://secondlife.com/
will obviously be your main starting point. Once you have created an avatar and are in the game the below steps will tell you how to get to the show:

Click the Search button at the bottom of your screen
Click the Places tab at the top of your screen
In the Find window, type Vieux Hall
Click the Teleport button

Aleph Zero is proud to present... A New Omnimotion Album!!!

After four years of recording, producing and composing new music in his Ambium Studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, Omnimotion is finally back with a second album. Utilizing inspirations and knowledge he picked up along his very diverse musical path, Stefan has created Dream Wide Awake. The album contains the best musical gems that were carefully chosen from the music that accumulated in this four year period. It is a beautifully mellow yet optimistic album, with a strong acoustic presence. Dream Wide Awake is an incredibly diverse album. It features eight different vocalists- from a rapper to an opera singer- and many guest musicians with an array of instruments including the violin, accordion, guitar, drums, harp & flute. The outcome hovers between the electronic and the acoustic, the hypnotic and the melodic, between abstract ambient and mellow songs, between dubby songs and IDM glitches. Omnimotion weaves and paints here an emotional musical journey that must not be missed and will leave you dreaming wide awake.

Hey everyone,

My name is Mike Jedlicka, and I help to run Optic Echo Records. We're a new label that focuses on the mix of downtempo, ambient, experimental, and IDM electronic music. We originally were Dick and Jane Records, but the lawyers of Dick and Jane books sued us over the name, making us change label names which is a pain in the all. So, to start fresh, this year we are releasing free MP3 albums by our artists to help get the word out there. There's 3 new free MP3 albums that I'm sure you all would enjoy, and I'm here to tell you a little about them. You can find all the albums here on our music page ...
http://www.opticecho.com/music

Mike Jedlicka's "Leaving Baja"
http://www.opticecho.com/mike/discogLB
Leaving Baja is Mike's debut effort for the label, and the ambient soundscapes he presents reflect both his previous surroundings in Florida as well as his current home in Portland.

Electric Blanket's "Bye Gones"
http://www.opticecho.com/byeGones
This work compiles what Geoff views as his best work and features tracks dating back to the mid-90's as well as much more recent efforts. Most of the songs are solo compositions, but a few tracks feature friends not forgotten but no longer present in his daily life in Austin.

Justin Brown's "The Lost Chord"
http://www.opticecho.com/lostChord
This album is the result of numerous years of music experimentation and appreciation. He has gone from playing guitar and layering on a 4-track to computer synthesized compositions, and the technology has in our opinion been a benefit to his results.

Continue to check back for new albums and updates to our label, and I hope you enjoy the music. Best ...

WTF is Tesh???? James Patrick and Someone Else's Sean O' Neil came up with this term since "Minimal" isn't really Minimal anymore. House and techno don't quite hit it either.

If you're in SF this weekend, hit Club Six's Dark Room this Friday for a marathon James Patrick DJ set that goes till 4:00 am.

Here's an excerpt from the Sean O'Neil interview:

www.rhythmism.com/features/

Im pretty sick of people labeling music these days with all the million sub-genres. "Like when people say " I play minimal, tech-trance overlayed with housey deep elements… Yuck. What do you have to say to these jokers? What do you call your music? I hope its not Epic!

Well yeah, it's sort of a problem. We call this genre of music "minimal techno," but it's not really minimal at all. In a way, it's maximal.

It's just a term that stuck, and it's hard to say to people, "I play minimal techno." To uneducated dumb-dumbs, this simply means that I play boring rave music. Minimal equals boring to a lot people. I guess the label "minimal tech-house" would be more technically accurate. But yeah, the labels are not necessary -- and in many cases, misleading. But what are you gonna do? There's no other word for it. Bruno Pronsato and James Patrick like to refer to quality minimal techno as "tesh." I suppose that works.

When people ask me what kind of music I make, my answer depends on the person asking the question. Most of the time, I just say "techno" or "house." Sometimes I say "minimal." And many times, I am blunt and say that I make "drug music."

Oakland's SPAZ COLLECTIVE, Portland's NEQUAQUAM VACUUM, and just tons of other bands
305 SE 3RD, next to Loveland, in the City Signs Building
Doors at 8, show starts at 9, absolutely no idea when we're going on but hopefully at least a little bit later than that

$5-10 sliding scale
A Benefit for The Nightmare Collective

Indeed folks.

I'm performing tonight at a benefit for The Nightmare Collective. This is going to be a gigantic blow-out show, built around a touring group of electronic musicians and disaster relief workers known as SPAZ (Semi-Permanent Autonomous Zone). These are the expatriate Lords of the Oakland warehouse scene, the collective that birthed Nightmare Collective itself, as well as The SPAZ-Port, The Mutant Festival, Circo Mutante, and an absolute shit-ton of incredible music over the past decade. I don't know exactly what they've got in store for us, but past experience would indicate some combination of banging dance-floor experimental Live PA shit, some circus, and a light dose of more ethereal electro-acoustic material. Principally, what they have to offer is a party, but a party put on by hardline wandering art freaks. Also, they wander the Earth helping out at disaster sites such as New Orleans and Bali. Some of the greatest people alive.
http://www.spaz.org

Local acts will again include my own band, Nequaquam Vacuum, playing on the roof -- a post-asiatic free improvising ensemble combining my own scrap metal percussion and glossolalia vocals with the multi-instrumental meditations of Travis McAlister, psychedelic Indian classical noise from Brian Crowl on the sitar and jumbusch, the extended flute, recorder, and violin technique of self-taught maestro Dr. Yes, and some combination of our other revolving collaborators (maybe get James Davis out there, or Rale Sidebottom, you know, Nolon Ashley or something)

AND

here comes a big black cloud (astonishing trash rock with a theremin)
silver creme (colloidal or perhaps the variety of stage make-up)
the swimmers (screwy art-punk duo)

And Again,
the spaz mutate or die tour lineup

Featuring:

Following KiloWatts' previous offering, Problem/Solving, a thematic musical mosaic of personal disorder and resolve, Routes presents a dynamic trip through myriad experiences, documents a year of traveling to new and untold places, and etches into stone the aural fragments of the moods that came with them. KiloWatts constructs lively and engaging compositions using torn breakbeats, psychedelic lock-grooves, warm keys, hypnotic downtempo rhythms, and revelatory musical progressions. All of these elements coexist in a seamless flow alongside fragments of overheard conversations and the subtle noises of subways, highways, and trains. Pushing forward into new sonic territory and defying genre labels, Routes also incorporates crispy beats, complex programming, and enough computer tweaks and glitches to satisfy any listener's lust for fresh new sounds. With technical wizardry and melodic sensibility, KiloWatts has taken the adventure, vagrancy, and trepidation of traveling and wrapped them up into a compelling album. Notably new, but unmistakably KiloWatts, the album takes us on a vibrant, energetic aural road-trip.

"...Mixing glitch and complex programming with warm downtempo and psychedelic loops, static and the sound of the rails with boarding announcements and lilting melodies, Kilowatts takes all the stress out of travel... Highly recommended."

It's good to know there's so many people out there keeping the vibe alive.
I read the opening page to this tribe and it invited new people to introduce themselves - so here goes;
I'm here to learn more about production techniques/ software etc and meet like-minded people. I've been making electronic music for about 10 years now, using mainly hardware and Logic Audio. I'm making quite minimal, groovy 4/4 stuff and am interested to know ways of injecting a new lease of life to my tunes.
I am quite green when it comes to software synths/ FX etc, so I'd like to learn more before I make the transition to a more software-orientated set up.
I'm quite tied up with my job, but I'll try to get involved when I can.

Best wishes to all - Rich

For the month of March, we will be releasing a number of back -catalog items. Our Second back-catalog release is Choosing Pattern by bug. From the website...

"Choosing Pattern is an experiment in the creation of rhythm using records on turn tables and a standard DJ mixer with EQ. While this work is comprised of 7 "tracks", the progression from one "pattern" to another is continuous throughout the release. The rhythms were created by placing the turn table needle at the edge of the record label and adjusting the pitch control to create a tempo. As the two records rotate around the record label, they create repeating pops, clicks, and hisses. Variations can occur with each rotation differentiating one "loop" from another. Using the High, Mid, and Low EQ knobs on the DJ mixer and varying the "pitch" on each turn table can further differentiate the rhythms as they progress."
We released our second mp3 download. This month our featured artist is zenas(prime) (that would be me ;) ). From the website...

"damaged_Resource_Fork is a collection of musical odds and ends by zenas(prime). Originally, this album was a promo release created to fit onto a three inch CDR and therefore only included Altered_File, Some_Body_ChromoSome, and Xarhtna. Each of these three tracks utilizes a work of music created by another artist as a base sound file. Using digital sound processing, these files were then glitched, tweaked, and twisted beyond repair by various effects and granular synthesis. The altered files were then arranged and layered into the final product.

Given out alongside damaged_Resource_Fork was a 3 1/2 inch floppy disk entitled Virus v1.0. Represented on this floppy was a one minute long experiment into the concepts of copyleft ideology. Each second of this one minute sound collage is a uniquely processed clip of the same sample. It is intended that other artists utilize these samples in their own copyleft works.

Aleindo Deinstructo is a more recent example of a derivative work. Given a full length musical work, Aleindo Deinstructo was created by looping, layering and processing either samples or the entire length of the original track. The result is a rather strange and bizarre (and possibly frightening) rendition of evil Santa Claus elves singing a Christmas Carol in Hebrew."

Hey folks, we released our first mp3 download under the bitphitz banner this week. Here is the description from the zenapolae website...

With this first web release on Zenapolae, Kidsok Nuit continues to explore the musical landscapes traversed by other Zenapolae artists such as ecux, zenas(prime), AmgSphont, and Instruction Shuttle. GLITCH, in big bold letters. That one word describes A-A:Alpha.Beta_Errata Corrige. Unlike most music that this word catagorizes, Kidsok Nuit doesn't cradle you and make you feel at peace with the world, instead he confronts the listener with a face full of sound. This music is not trying to hide in the background as you slip off to work or sleep. It want's your attention, now!

Take a moment and check it out.
